The New England Patriots will have all their starting offensive linemen returning for the 2025 season.
Don’t shoot the messenger!
Demontrey Jacobs and Ben Brown have signed new deals with the Patriots, as reported by Joseph Pasteris on X. According to the NFLPA, Jacobs agreed to a one-year contract worth $960,000, while Brown signed a one-year deal for $1.03 million.
Both Jacobs and Brown were exclusive rights free agents, meaning they had two or fewer years of service time and had reached the end of their contracts. The Patriots have now retained four of their five ERFAs, with Jacobs and Brown joining JaQuae Jackson and Jeremiah Pharms Jr., who also secured contract extensions.
Alex Austin remains unsigned.
While New England doesn’t intend to rely on Jacobs or Brown as primary starters, bringing them back as depth pieces was an easy decision. Now, it’s up to Mike Vrabel and Eliot Wolf to focus on securing real upgrades to the roster in the coming months.
By keeping Jacobs and Brown, the Patriots ensure stability on their offensive line heading into the new season. With free agency and the draft approaching, the team is expected to explore additional moves to strengthen the unit.
These re-signings reflect New England’s broader strategy of keeping key depth players in place. With four of their five ERFAs secured, Austin remains the only one yet to sign a new deal.
Though Jacobs and Brown aren’t projected to be starters, their presence provides insurance for a unit that struggled with injuries and inconsistency last season. The Patriots will continue evaluating their offensive line needs as they prepare for the next phase of the offseason.
