Additional rumors persist in connecting the Minnesota Vikings to international games this season.
As stated by Arif Hasan, who previously reported on the Vikings for The Athletic, Minnesota will compete overseas for two consecutive weeks for away matches against AFC North rivals. The Vikings will take on the Pittsburgh Steelers at Croke Park in Dublin during Week 4 and the Cleveland Browns at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London in Week 5, according to Hasan.
The Steelers have been designated as the home team for the game in Dublin, though the opponent and specific date remain unannounced. Earlier this week, a radio host from Pittsburgh announced that the Steelers will be competing against the Vikings there on Sept. 28, which falls in Week 4. Minnesota has frequently been connected to the Pittsburgh game in Dublin since at least the start of April.
This isn’t the first occasion the Vikings have been linked to several international games, including a possible game in London. Three of their rivals — the Steelers, Browns, and Los Angeles Chargers, who will kick off their season in Brazil — are hosting international games this season in 2025. Should the Vikings face the Browns in London, it would mark their second consecutive year playing in the city and their fifth game overall there. Minnesota has won all of its last four games, going 4-0.
If the reports are true, the Vikings would become the first NFL team to play back-to-back regular season games overseas, a rare scheduling move that underscores the league’s growing push for global expansion. International games have become a major part of the NFL calendar, with matches in London, Germany, Mexico, and now Brazil becoming annual staples. Adding Dublin as a new host city could further emphasize the league’s interest in reaching new fanbases across Europe.
Minnesota has a solid history of participating in international matchups. Their first trip abroad came in 1983 for a preseason game in London, but they didn’t return for a regular season game until 2013. Since then, they’ve played and won in London in 2013, 2017, 2022, and 2024. If the reported Week 5 matchup against Cleveland is confirmed, it would mark their third London appearance in just four seasons and cement their status as one of the league’s most internationally visible teams.
For fans in the UK and Ireland, the possibility of seeing Minnesota take the field in two iconic venues like Croke Park and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in consecutive weeks is a major attraction. Croke Park, primarily known for hosting Gaelic games, has not held an NFL matchup before, making this a potential historic event for Ireland. Tottenham’s stadium, on the other hand, has become a familiar site for NFL action and will likely offer a high-quality viewing experience once again.
While the Vikings would technically be the road team in both contests, the international setting could offer a neutral ground feel. This might reduce the usual challenges of playing away from home, though the travel demands of back-to-back international games could pose logistical challenges for the team. Maintaining rhythm, managing player fatigue, and adjusting to time zones will be key factors if these back-to-back overseas games are confirmed.
NFL fans won’t have to wait long for clarity. The official 2025 international schedule is expected to be released on Tuesday during NFL Network’s Good Morning Football. If Hasan’s information proves correct, the Vikings could find themselves making history while expanding their global presence in a way no NFL team has done before.
