It definitely seems that the Indiana Fever chose the perfect coach for WNBA star Caitlin Clark. In a discussion with WNBA icons Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi on “The Bird & Taurasi Show,” Clark expressed admiration for her new head coach Stephanie White, who took over from Christie Sides after the 2024 season. Clark referred to White as “one of the brightest basketball minds” she has ever met, expressing that she’s “thrilled” to collaborate with her. “[Stephanie White] ranks among the most intelligent basketball minds I have encountered,” Clark stated during the alternate broadcast of the women’s basketball national championship, as reported by the Fever.
Everyone respects her and the manner in which she coaches, the way she guides. “I’m eager to gain insights from her.”
The Fever appointed Stephanie White as their new head coach after achieving a 20-20 record and securing a playoff spot in the 2024 season. The WNBA team separated from Sides, clearing the path for White’s comeback to the organization where she had coached from 2015 to 2016 and played from 2000 to 2004.
During her coaching career in the WNBA, White has achieved a regular season record of 92-56, guiding her teams to the playoffs each year. White notably led the Fever to the WNBA Finals in 2015. In the meantime, Caitlin Clark has proven to be a significant presence in her inaugural WNBA season. She recorded an average of 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, and a league-leading 8.4 assists per game, aiding Indiana in achieving its first playoff spot since 2016. The collaboration between White and Clark is certainly one to watch, particularly as they strive to elevate Indiana to greater levels.
