Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff delivered one of the finest performances of his career in 2024, earning him a spot as an MVP finalist.
Goff, who joins fellow quarterbacks Josh Allen (Buffalo Bills), Joe Burrow (Cincinnati Bengals), and Lamar Jackson (Baltimore Ravens), along with running back Saquon Barkley (Philadelphia Eagles), isn’t the only Lion being recognized.
Head coach Dan Campbell is in the running for Coach of the Year, while former coordinators Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn are finalists for Assistant Coach of the Year.
These honors, awarded by the Associated Press, are determined by a panel of 50 league reporters. The winners will be revealed at the NFL Honors ceremony on Feb. 6.
Goff started all 17 games in the 2024 regular season, leading the Lions to a franchise-best 15 wins before being eliminated in the divisional round by the Washington Commanders.
He completed 72.4% of his passes for 4,629 yards, 37 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.
BThe season saw Goff achieve career highs in completion percentage, passing touchdowns, yards per attempt (8.6), passer rating (111.8), and quarterback rating (68.4).
Campbell now holds a 39-28-1 record in four seasons with Detroit, including an NFL-leading 27-7 mark over the past two years. Johnson (Chicago Bears) and Glenn (New York Jets) recently departed to become head coaches.
NThe Lions led the league in average points scored (33.2) and ranked seventh in points allowed(20.1).
