Georgia’s tight ends coach Todd Hartley is aware he will not have the opportunity to coach another Brock Bowers.
He has an optimistic outlook, but to
believe otherwise would be overly glass-99-percent-full.
That being said, a “but” should be mentioned regarding 4-star TE signee Ethan Barbour.
Hartley mentioned the name of the greatest TE in Georgia history and the NFL currently while explaining what he appreciates most about the state champion from Milton High School.
“Hartley stated that he is not likening him to Brock Bowers.” “I’m not equating anyone with Brock Bowers, but Ethan aims to excel in all areas.” He constantly desires to do even more and challenges himself.
That resembles how Bowers was in Athens.
“Right from the start, he’s asking, ‘Hey coach, when can we meet again?’ and ‘When can I review more film?’ and ‘When can I do more JUGS?’ and I reply, ‘Hey pal, it’s only your second day here.” I really like that. “You may need to tell him to ease off just a bit,’ but you’d prefer to say that than to urge him to speed up.”
“Since the very first moment I encountered him in Alpharetta until his period at Milton, he has consistently been a kid eager to challenge himself towards greatness.” If you possess the trait of striving for greatness, you will be perfectly okay. “Particularly in a location such as Georgia.”
UGA refers to it as “competitive character” within the institution. Hartley looks for that. Kirby Smart enjoys that. That’s what distinguished Bowers more than anything else. This takes into account his extraordinary physical abilities, including his size, speed, and how effectively he catches the football.
It seems that Georgia has the opportunity to land another exceptional tight end.
For many schools, the word “special” suffices. However, that’s the norm in Athens.
“I believe the child is fond of football,” Hartley remarked about Barbour. “I believe the child enjoys relationships, working, and truly investing in his personal growth.” I believe Coach Smart excelled at creating an excellent rapport with him. I believe our entire staff worked diligently to build a connection with him, and while he adores Georgia, he also appreciates the people here at Georgia.
“He will struggle for them just as we will struggle for him.”
Hartley secured two amazing tight ends this cycle in Barbour and 5-star Elyiss Williams. Each was ranked the top TE in the nation by various recruiting agencies. When top recruits see No. 19 excel in the NFL, it probably provides him with a foot in the door.
However, Hartley makes it clear that he isn’t seeking anyone to become the next Brock Bowers at Georgia.
“Pay attention, and I inform these players, I’m bringing you to Georgia to help you become the finest tight end you can be,” Hartley stated. “I’m not bringing you to Georgia to become the next Brock Bowers.” There won’t be another Brock Bowers, and it is unjust to any recruits or individuals in my group to expect them to be like Brock. It is not going to occur. I don’t wish for them to be that way. “I want them to reach their fullest potential.”
“If I bring in the right individuals and they evolve into their best selves, they will have every chance to achieve as much success as Brock experienced.”
Barbour could be the inaugural Ethan Barbour in Athens. Based on his current trajectory, that will turn out to be extremely beneficial.
