There has been widespread conjecture regarding Aaron Rodgers’ intentions for the 2025 season, but Keyshawn Johnson believes they will not involve the New York Jets.
Indeed, Johnson made an absurd vow on Thursday regarding his actions if Rodgers comes back to the Jets this autumn.
The FS1’s Speak panel talked about the potential of new Jets head coach Aaron Glenn with the team. The ex-Jets star takes over a team that finished 5-12 this season, facing numerous uncertainties. The major question revolves around Rodgers, who is ending the least impressive statistical season of his career and will reach 42 next season. The quarterback, a four-time MVP, has expressed uncertainty about his return for another NFL season, and if he does come back, it is unclear if he will play for the Jets.
Johnson expressed his belief that Glenn is an ideal match for the Jets, though he likely won’t want to collaborate with Rodgers.
“The Jets’ situation is remarkable.” “They have players,” Johnson stated. “What he can achieve is to enter New York and establish a culture distinct from the existing one.” I can assure you with absolute certainty that the coach is going to transform instantly, because he’s not the usual reserved type who stays silent… He’s going to push his players, just as he did when he was a defender.
“He will not begin his career — I’m the first to say this, nobody else is saying it — with Aaron Rodgers as his quarterback in September.”
Johnson is so convinced that Glenn won’t collaborate with Rodgers that he made an extraordinary pledge.
“If he does, then I’m leaving Calabasas at 4 a.m. to head to the studio, wearing only boxers,” Johnson stated. “I’m expressing this with great confidence. … Just so you know, he won’t kick off his career with that nonsense.” It’s not going to occur. He’s not going to let anyone dictate his actions as a coach.
“I’m unsure who they’ll start the season with, but it won’t be No. 8.”
