The Alabama football team lost its pledge from five-star offensive lineman Ty Haywood on Monday. It’s not shocking to observe this since Haywood chose not to commit to the Crimson Tide on the early signing day in December, as he was considering offers from other schools. At this point, Haywood has formally decommitted from Alabama, and as part of the 2025 recruiting class, he must decide soon about his new school.
Currently, it appears that Michigan, Florida State, and Texas Tech are the programs to keep an eye on for the ex-Alabama football pledge.
“This was anticipated ever since Haywood opted not to sign with Alabama in December,” Lederman went on. “Michigan, Texas Tech, and Florida State are all competing for ESPN’s No. 5 OT.”
Ty Haywood is rated as a five-star recruit by 247 Sports. He ranks as the #20 player in the 2025 class, #4 offensive tackle, and #6 player in Texas. Haywood is presently enrolled at Ryan High School in Denton, Texas. Haywood made a commitment to Alabama in July, but he is currently seeking a different school. Being a leading prospect for 2025, he has the potential to be an instant contributor.
“Dominant offensive tackle featuring remarkable length in relation to his height,” said Gabe Brooks from 247 Sports in his evaluation of Haywood. “Having long arms with an extensive reach.” Slowly enhanced speed off the ball during junior year and excelled in the elite camp circuit before senior season, rising on a competitive 2025 OT list. Possessing an impressive multi-sport background, featuring elite throwing statistics with double-digit shot put attempts over 50 feet in Spring 2024, highlighted by a personal best of 58-6. Promising athletic evaluation record, especially in lateral quickness. Continuing to refine his hand positioning and technique, but once he gets his hands inside your reach, it’s over for you.
