With the upcoming film, Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, in production, it would seem that the 2024 release should still be accessible on streaming services prior to the next installment debuting. Regrettably, this is not true, as Netflix has stated it will take the movie out of its collection next month.
Fans of the MonsterVerse have until June 14, 2025, to view Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire before it departs from the streaming service. Luckily, the option to stream on HBO Max is available, along with other films in the series such as Kong: Skull Island and Godzilla vs. Kong. Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire emerged as the top-grossing MonsterVerse movie, raking in over $571 million worldwide, and received widespread acclaim from fans, achieving a Verified Fresh Rotten Tomatoes Score of 89%.
The MonsterVerse is a movie franchise that includes characters owned and originated by Toho Co. LTD, and it currently comprises five films and two television series. The initial installment in this giant franchise is 2014’s Godzilla, featuring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, Sally Hawkins, David Strathairn, and Bryan Cranston. The film generated $523 million worldwide and achieved a Certified Fresh Critics score of 76% on Rotten Tomatoes. The newest television series in this franchise is Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. The initial season can be streamed on Apple TV+, and the second season is presently in post-production, with its release date still pending announcement.
Godzilla x Kong: Supernova serves as the follow-up to The New Empire and is the sixth entry in the MonsterVerse series. Production has commenced in Queensland, Australia and will see Dan Stevens reprising his role as Trapper. Also featured in this movie are Kaitlyn Dever (The Last of Us Season 2), Jack O’Connell (Sinners), Delroy Lindo (Malcolm X), Matthew Modine (Stranger Things), Alycia Debnam-Carey (Fear the Walking Dead), and Sam Neill (Jurassic Park), with Grand Sputore directing and David Callaham and Michael Lloyd Green writing.
The storyline for this feature has not been disclosed yet. Nonetheless, clips from the film’s making suggested that it would take place in London. The MonsterVerse has showcased several other huge monsters in its movies, such as Tiamat, MechaGodzilla, and King Ghidorah, and another celestial giant is expected to debut in this forthcoming installment.
