Philadelphia Eagles coach Nick Sirianni commented on the critics of quarterback Jalen Hurts following the NFC Championship win on Sunday.
The Eagles are on their way to the Super Bowl following their 55-23 victory against the Washington Commanders. Later, Sirianni offered some direct comments regarding the media criticism Hurts has faced in recent months.
In a field interview with Fox Sports’ Terry Bradshaw, Sirianni enthusiastically commended Hurts.
“What do you think of our quarterback?” “What do you think about our quarterback?” Sirianni stated. “He’s a champ!” I was aware he would play like that! I was aware of it! “Have confidence in him; winning is all he knows!”
Following the previously mentioned match against the Panthers, ESPN’s Domonique Foxworth made his critique of Hurts more personal, claiming he enjoyed “pretty privilege.”
“He stood up at the press conference following the game, behaving as if he were Josh Allen,” Foxworth stated. “Check out this guy rocking his Kangol, resembling Nino Brown… adorned with three thousand million trillion dollars in diamonds around his neck, and he’s behaving like he just ran 400 yards for three consecutive weeks.”
Earlier this season, Dan Orlovsky from ESPN called Hurts a “liability” for the Eagles.
“It’s incredible how often there is doubt, I find it hard to understand,” Sirianni remarked. “It doesn’t appear as people believe it ought to appear.” However, the player has been reliable and has secured numerous football victories.
Hurts lacks impressive statistics this season, featuring just 2,903 yards and 18 touchdowns. On the other hand, running back Saquon Barkley achieved a remarkable 2,000-yard season. At times, you stick with the player who is on a roll.
“We’re not concerned about the method of our victory,” Sirianni stated. “If we hurry for 300 and throw for 1 and we win, fantastic… who cares?” We simply carry on winning, he keeps on winning, and I believe the criticism is — irrelevant. He simply wins, and I expressed my thoughts after the game, which reflects my feelings.
