Timothy Jones of Bleacher Report recently tweeted that Aaron Glenn’s decision to accept the New York Jets’ head coaching role instead of joining the New Orleans Saints may have been shaped by a critical request behind the scenes.
According to sources, Glenn was strongly interested in the Saints’ job but reportedly asked the organization to consider replacing current General Manager Mickey Loomis.
Glenn also expressed a desire to be involved in selecting a new GM, a request the Saints were unwilling to fulfill.
On the other hand, the Jets presented Glenn with an opportunity to have greater influence over the team’s direction and his own future.
With the Saints unwilling to meet his conditions, the Jets became a more attractive choice.
This move now positions Glenn to lead New York into the 2025 season, highlighting how his desire for a more significant role in team decision-making, particularly regarding the GM, influenced his decision to join the Jets.
