Tom Hamilton acknowledges that Aerosmith might “do something in the future” if lead singer Steven Tyler desires to.
The ‘Dream On’ rock band – which includes Brad Whitford, 72, along with Joe Perry and Joey Kramer, both 74 – officially halted touring last August after Steven, 76, sustained a fractured larynx, and even though he’s recovering, the 73-year-old bassist emphasizes he doesn’t want to “pressure” the vocalist into anything.
During a conversation on Boston radio station WBUR, he commented on the likelihood of their reunion: “Steven’s healing journey is progressing very well, but it follows its own timeline.”
“Perhaps Aerosmith will engage in something later on, but it’s a significant ‘if,’ and I definitely don’t want to attempt to influence Steven toward that path.” “If we undertake any actions in the future, they would originate from him.”
Nevertheless, it seems improbable that they would go on tour again.
When asked to rate his hope for a reunion on a scale from 1 to 10, Tom stated to AARP in August: “On that scale, I’d say I’m somewhere between 7 and 9.” We won’t be conducting any tours moving forward, but I will always remain hopeful that other kinds of opportunities may arise. This isn’t the first occasion when dark clouds have appeared on our horizon — and yet the sun somehow shone through. “At this moment, all we possess is time and hope.”
When it was proposed that they might have another residency in Las Vegas, Tom responded: “I have reservations about the possibility of any more in the future.”
Tom also acknowledged that there had been no talks regarding the creation of another album to succeed 2012’s ‘Music From Another Dimension!’.
The band declared they would be stepping away from touring because of the vocal injury Steven suffered in 2023 during their ‘Peace Out: The Farewell Tour’, which was set to finish on February 26, 2025, in Buffalo, New York, but was canceled after three performances.
A declaration stated: “As you are aware, Steven’s voice is a unique instrument.” He has dedicated months to diligently restoring his voice to the level it was at prior to his injury.
“We have observed him battling even with the top medical team around him.” Unfortunately, it is evident that a complete recovery from his vocal injury cannot be achieved. We have reached a painful yet vital decision — as a brotherhood — to step away from touring.
